SortLeaf

Turn one scanned packet into named, filed documents — in minutes, not an afternoon.

Your office scans a 60-page stack. SortLeaf finds every will, deed, disclosure and release inside it, names each one the way your firm names files, cleans up the pages and gives you back finished PDFs, ready to file.

Built for law firms. Files are deleted automatically after a few hours.

An example: one 52-page scanned packet becomes separate, named documents.

estate-signing-packet.pdf

52 scanned pages

  • Trust, John Doe.pdfpages 1–22
  • Certification of Trust, John Doe.pdfpages 23–25
  • Will, John Doe.pdfpages 26–30
  • Financial POA, John Doe.pdfpages 31–36
  • HIPAA Release, John Doe.pdfpages 41–43

Splitting scans by hand is slow, and it's where mistakes creep in

  • Someone pages through the whole packet to find where each document begins.
  • Each piece is cut out, renamed to the firm's convention and dropped into the right folder.
  • A missing signature page or a page in the wrong place is found weeks later, if at all.

SortLeaf does the paging, cutting and naming. Your team does the checking.

How it works

Four steps, one screen at a time

  1. Upload

Drop in the scanned packet: PDF or images (TIFF, JPEG, PNG). Large scans are fine.

  2. Separate

SortLeaf finds where each document starts and ends, using your firm's own rules: the titles you look for, page numbering ("page 1 of 4"), even the layout of forms you've taught it. Each document is named with your format: type, client name, date. You review the list. Rename, adjust a page range, or teach a new rule and check that document again in seconds.

  3. Enhance

Straighten tilted pages, clean the background, crop the borders, put pages back in order, or switch to black and white for smaller files. A side-by-side preview shows the result first.

  4. Done

Download each document, or everything as one ZIP, already in the folders your format sets. Then finish, and the files are deleted.

What it catches

It doesn't just split. It points out what needs a look.

  • Documents it isn't sure about

Each one comes with a plain-words reason, so you know where to look.

  • Empty signature and initial boxes

On the forms you've set up, so a missing signature is found before the file goes out. Turned on per firm.

  • Page gaps and overlaps

Pages that belong to no document, or to two, are shown before anything is made.

  • Pages that can't be read

They are marked "check this page" instead of stopping the whole packet.

You confirm the review once, and that confirmation is recorded.

Who it's for

Made for the packets law firms actually get

  • Estate planning

Trusts, wills, powers of attorney, HIPAA releases and directives, all from one signing packet.

  • Real estate

Contracts, addenda, disclosures, financing and tax pages from a closing packet.

  • Any practice with repeating forms

Set up the rules once, and every packet after that is faster.

Security and privacy

Built for client documents, with privacy as the default

  • Nothing is kept

A packet and everything made from it are deleted automatically after 4 hours, or straight away when you finish.

  • Your firm only

Each firm's documents are kept apart at the database level. One firm can never see another's files.

  • Encrypted

    In transit and at rest.

  • Two-factor sign-in

Every person signs in with their own account and a second factor, with roles for firm admins and staff.

  • Business Associate Agreement

Your firm accepts our BAA in the app before the first upload.

  • Hosted in the United States

    On Amazon Web Services.

  • No AI training on your documents

SortLeaf doesn't use your files to train anything.

Built to support your HIPAA obligations.

FAQ

Questions firms ask

Do I need to install anything?

No. SortLeaf runs in your browser.

What files can I upload?

PDFs and scanned images (TIFF, JPEG, PNG, BMP). One packet can be many files.

How does it know our document types?

You give it the titles and wording your documents use, once. When it meets something new, it suggests a name, and you can turn that into a rule with one click.

What if it splits something wrong?

You see every document before anything is made. Drag a page range, rename, merge or add a document. Nothing is final until you confirm.

Where do my files go?

You download them. SortLeaf doesn't keep copies. Files are deleted after a few hours, or as soon as you finish.

Can my whole office use it?

Yes. A firm admin invites staff, and each person signs in with their own account.

How much does it cost?

We're onboarding a small group of firms now. Book a demo, and we'll talk about what fits your volume.

See it on one of your own packets

Book a 30-minute demo. Bring a scanned packet (with names blacked out if you prefer), and watch it become filed documents.
